As hard as I try to avoid the thought, I’m beginning to think that the verdict is in on The Great Experiment. It appears that the majority of our fellow citizens find participatory democracy to be too much trouble to bother with. They’d rather have their opinions fed to them deboned, in easy to swallow bite-sized pieces and to do whatever they’re told by those who shout the loudest.

Governing is hard work, so we elect representatives to do the work for us. Then they sit on their asses, pontificate ad infinitum, and in the end do nothing but generate hot air.

Still, I enjoyed seeing Boehner squirm while the press asked embarrassing questions. Obama has brought the GOP’s failures into the clear light of day.
