My dad’s parents left the church over birth control too. Six kids in all and my Dad was the youngest and Nana’s brother was even a priest but they did not like the church telling them that they couldn’t use birth control. I think this was around the time of the Griswold decision since my Dad left parochial school in the early 60’s and thus became the only child not to graduate from a Catholic high school.

I think women and their increasing educations are major reasons for the decline of religion in America.
