And it also works the other way: a lot of conservatives/Republicans seem to think that “support for Israel” - to be more precise, a slavish and uncritical support of various Israeli government “security” policies - is the sole issue American Jews care about; and every two/four years act surprised when American Jews vote their own preferences (strongly Democratic) - which voting patterns they usually end up “rationalizing” with “explanations” which typically differ from antisemitic tropes only in a matter of degree.

Well, since a significant percentage of them believe the Jews are destined to burn in the fires of the Apocalypse anyway, really the only reason to care about Israel is as the trigger for that Apocalypse. Were I a Jew, I would not find their ‘support’ comforting.
