From the time that Nate began predicting the race, he had Obama leading. At no time during the entire race did Romney have even a 40% chance of winning. At no time did Romney ever top 270 EVs in Silver’s predictions. Romney never generated any kind of traction during the summer.

The closest he came was in the second week of October.

And only because he’d had a good first debate performance, which the Beltway Boys thought would be the end-all, be-all. Told themselves that no candidate comes back from such a “devastating” performance and that Romney only had to show up to the other two debates.
