re: #1000 Obdicut

I haven’t noticed US Muslims doing that, though.

Nor have I, really. That post was meant to poke fun at those in the U.S. who willfully ignore the evils of Sharia law while screaming loudly at the evils of the Vatican. Nothing more. And as I stated in that post, a pox upon both houses.

I can condemn Islam in the middle East, I can condemn Totalitarian Communist China, I can condemn caste-bound India (where honor killings are rife as well), I can condemn the fascism rising in Eastern Europe, and I can condemn the complete fucked-up-edness of criminal Russia. I can condemn the systemic racism in Japan, the race-based nuttiness in Brazil, the racism in Argentina, the shabby treatment of the Aborigines in Australia.

But I don’t really have any influence in those places. The only place I can really affect anything is here in the United States

.

Nor do I, but it costs absolutely nothing to call out evil as evil.

And we’re not anywhere, at all, in any way, close to Sharia law. Even if there are independent arbitrators set up, they have to follow US law. It’s a non-issue.

Which is a point I made on this thread when I said we need now laws banning Sharia or Leviticus Law, as both would be obviously and demonstrably illegal under our current laws.

I don’t get why it’s even a discussion. We have actual laws being passed against abortion that are clearly inspired by very conservative Christianity; that is an actual, real problem that’s occurring.

I concur. I do believe that I have been consistent in my stance here that religious law has no place in modern, secular societies.
