That doesn’t work for me either.

My guess is that it is somehow related to the direct messaging function. Since you would normally type “d [username] [message]” to send a DM to someone mabye there’s something in Twitter’s code that automatically flags the “d.[text]” string at the start of a Tweet as a direct messaging error.
