In a way, KT is not far off…Palin, Thompson and other GOP muckety-mucks put their support behind Hoffman, not Dede (the NYS GOP’s candidate). Even Michael Steele withdrew the RNC’s support from Dede in favor of Hoffman by election night, IIRC.

Actually, Steele backed Scozzofava throughout the campaign, and only backed Hoffman once the Republican candidate had withdrawn from the race. Sort of. What Steele actually offered was tepid support, at best.
