The 10 commandments should be against the law. I should be free to worship any idol I wish and covet whatever I want till the cows come home.

The ban against coveting is fine, it just needs to be properly defined:

Do not covet thy neighbour’s wife.

Do not covet thy neighbour’s ass.

Do not covet thy neighbour’s wife’s ass.
