I really wanted to give him a chance when he first ran for NYC’s mayor since he was the progressive minded mayor the city had elected since Dinkins but the New Yorkers I’ve talked to aren’t impressed at all by him.

He’s been meh… universal pre-k is a big feather in his cap, but he’s been awful most everywhere else. There’s a huge housing scandal at NYCHA that culminated with the feds getting involved (yeah, it was that bad). They lied about lead abatement/testing, and kids were found to have high lead levels.

There’s also his failures on Vision Zero (reduce pedestrian fatalities) by not prioritizing mass transit sufficiently. Mass transit is actually controlled by Gov. Cuomo, and the two have been at odds every step of the way. But DeBlasio hasn’t done enough within his control to improve things, like prioritizing buses/mass transit on streets over cars, and his fights with Cuomo subvert everything else he might be doing.
