One of the benefits of being poor: They never get my money for their overpriced stuff. I’ve never been in WF, TJ’s or any of those. They’re corporate assholes, too, so why go out of my way?

Trader Joe’s isn’t expensive (at least not by gentrified Brooklyn standards). I do a lot of shopping there. I never shop at Whole Foods.

Part of my Whole Foods disdain comes from the misfortune of hearing Mackey speak at a convention shortly after the 2012 election (I work in the food industry). He basically ranted and raved about how the government is jealous of business owners who are what makes this country great (little different from Romney’s 47% bit). You could see a good chunk of the audience shifting uncomfortably in their seats.
