The circumstances suggest 2nd or 3rd degree murder, too, not manslaughter….

Seems to me that apartments have numbers on the door. If you are trying to use a key on a door, it should match the number on the door. Unless you are drunk. Then bang on the door, because your key doesn’t work. And then, if someone opens the door to “your” apartment, you should probably ask them why they had the key changed.

If it’s a white woman or a white man.

Unless you were drunk, in which case you should pull out your service weapon and shoot the black man who opened the door without asking why the key had been changed.

So, public intoxication, resulting in depraved indifference, resulting in the misuse of a service weapon by an intoxicated civil servant, resulting in the homicide of an unarmed civilian opening the door of his own home, equals homicide in the second degree resulting in a forty year prison sentence.

Plead it out tomorrow and move on.
