I just happen to be ‘old school’ :)

(I’m also Canadian where the term is still widely used, and we don’t need no stinkin’ manuals).

We use Boxing Day here in the Nebraska Panhandle (but not the rest of the state).

It comes from the early days of the Homestead Act, when an Army captain retired with his Canadian-born wife to the area north of Mitchell.

She was lonely for celebrations of Boxing Day, so she decided to start doing them in her home. They turned out to be quite popular in the area, and the tradition has stuck here.
