Same here. I has a couple of Seagates crap out on me, so now I rarely use anything but WD.

The only thing I keep on my C: drive is the OS. I keep everything else on two separate 7200RPM internal drives (both getting updated to 1TB SATA 3), and then back up to external drives.

I also got one of those hard drive docks where you can just stick the drive in an move stuff. Seems really convenient, especially now that my new MB will have USB 3.0 ports.

I’m excited to be upgrading my system, but I hate doing hardware updates. I always end up all scratched up, itchy from the dust, and aggravated by my inevitable screw-ups.

It doesn’t help that the cats want to supervise: “Ooooh, look at all those squiggly wires and shiny screws! Here, let me help you…”

When you get a bit of extra money, you might want to put your OS on an SSD.

The HDD dock I have is one of my most used tools. It uses eSATA rather than USB so it’s quite fast. I would like one that uses eSATA 3.
