Chula Vista was pretty horrible in the early 60s. Had the misfortune of having an apt there and walking home one day from the bus after work passed a window that was below ground level (basement apt, I think) and some guy had his curtains open, and was masturbating right in front of it. Another neighbor threw eggs at my front door because she didn’t like me. I think I stayed there for about a month, maybe 2. Hated it. Didn’t have very good experiences in CA, needless to say—it almost cured me of trusting people, but I was only 21 when I left after 2 yrs there and got over it.

I think I maybe know your ex-wife’s feelings about SoCal. Overwhelmed me, too. : )
