I remember reading about the Corsairs, that the cockpit was SO FAR BACK that they had to do the ‘bent wing’ so the pilot could see to land them!.

It wasn’t because of that, it was to make it so that the Corsair’s massive propeller (harnessing 2000 HP from that Double Wasp engine) would have enough ground clearance on takeoff and landing.
