Charles is absolutely right! If Sanders had been nominated, the GOP would have trashed him even more than the way they trashed McGovern in 1972.

They would have started by bringing up his support of the Socialist Workers Party in 1980.

Next they would have blasted the articles he wrote in the 70s about sex.

Then taking a page from the Stone playbook, Democrats for Trump (DFT) would have been set up with Joe LIEberman as the head and they would pummel Sanders over his proposed Defense cuts, they would go after his college proposal (Really? Everyone should have a right to college? Just imagine the DFT commercial showing a bunch of Venice Beach Punks while an announcer says “They would go to college and goof off for four years and stick you with the bill”).

Next we would have commercials from people in Canada claiming they wait years for surgery because the Single Payer System rations care.

Next they would have torn apart the Fight for $15.

Then they would have gone after Bernie for having multiple houses.

Next up—“Bernie won’t release his taxes”

Next up—“Bernie Lied about marching for Civil Rights”

Next—“Bernie and Jane Honeymooned in…GASP!…MOSCOW”

Next up—They would go after Jane Sanders bankrupting the college.

And then the nail in the coffin from Jill Stein as she would repeatedly bullshit about Bernie selling out.

And just imagine the attacks DFT would whip up if Bernie had Tulsi or Nina Turner as his running mates…

By the time the GOP and LIEberman finished with Sanders he would have been slaughtered even worse than McGovern and Mondale. Sanders would have wound up with only Vermont’s 3 electoral votes and DC’s 3. Republicans would have picked up Congressional and Senate seats.

We’d be in an even worse fix than we are now…
