The towns Mrs. FBW and I grew up in, were so small and so rural that we didn’t have anybody nonwhite to segregate. This kind of monocultural isolation leaves you with no counterexamples to any stereotypes you’re taught.

Right, that’s what I was thinking of. Places where not only is nearly everyone white but their families have all been there generations.
