I am at least comforted by the fact that such lunacy is not restricted to Americans. It’s a cold comfort, but a comfort none the less.

Some people will believe anything if it’s against those they hate. Which I believe you mentioned earlier? So in the case of 9/11 it was hatched largely as a movement against the Bush White House or Republicans in general. Of course we’ve seen how this quickly turned into other conspiracies against Obama from the very same people over the year. In any case this is something like confirmation bias perhaps? Or plane bias in general. Which is why the 9/11 conspiracies are popular in some pockets of the Middle East. You’ll also find it in Communist nations or even former Communist nations. Which is why we see a lot of this at Russia Today or continually on Pravda. So people like Dylan Avery hated the his own country already. This fit him perfectly as it does with other people that already hate the USA.
