Well, Lewis has never been a warrior. He is an academic historian. He finds much that is admirable in the culture & people of the Muslim world. Many folks might dissagree with that romantic sentiment.

But when it comes to the subject of Iran, Lewis has been forthright and unequivocal: the current regime is lead by dangerous apocalyptic fanatics determined to build nuclear weapons and start a massive war. I don’t see what you would object to about that assessment. He’s right. And coming from him, I think it carries more weight in some circles than the latest warnings from “neo-con warmongers” like John Bolton.
