A tech thread

JUST what I need

Every so often, my desktop just freezes up,,, stone cold ,,, can’t do anything with the mouse ,,, not even ctrl/alt/delete does anything,,,

Sometimes it does it mid start-up,,, other times while it’s been on for hours,,, other times as soon as it finishes starting up

Fans are running but no other “noises” coming from the tower (I have one side of the cover open to hear better)

Any hints, ideas, clues, suggestions!?!?!

Probably windows explorer crashing. I had the same problem for a while. Manually update windows and see if there’s an update that partially installed and then froze up. If you have your windows disk you can use it to very your install and make sure everything is still where it should be.
You also may want to defragment your hard drive, that sometimes clears up problems.
