I was a paid my way through college as a phone solicitor.
Now, I answer the phone, and if it’s not a friend, I say “what do you want?”
It can be repeated until I know what they want, then I say no & hang up.
Or, if I can tell it’s a solicitor or a robo-call, I just hang up.
It’s my time, I’ll spend it as I want to!
I did enjoy the couple of years I worked that gig, though.

When I get a call and they mispronounce our last name - I hang up right away.
It happens frequently.
