Well Joe, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that most of the folks you hear say that are Boomers who are looking through the lens of nostalgia or their Yuppie offspring who grew up believing in the bullshit lies of the GOP in the 80s. Because I can say with every confidence that the country I grew up in was worse than what I have now. For starters, when I was growing up, your peers finding out you were gay was a career killer. Yes, even in the 90s, there was enough open homophobia left that staying in the closet was the only choice if you wanted to be successful in most businesses.
