re: #109 AK-47%

Foreign policy is going to be a real minefield for Obama: this is a case where he again has to run on his record. Objectively seen, it is a damn good one, but through the distorted lens of GOP spinmaking, it will be made out as a “disaster” and a “threat to our existence as a nation” etc.

And all Romney has to do is explain in vague terms how he would do everything different (and, of course, better), regardless of the consequences.

The problem Romney faces is that he only speaks in belligerent terms, Russia as #1 geopolitical foe, China labeled currency manipulator, tariff war with China, etc. He said leaving Iraq was Obama’s signature failure, opposed the end of DADT and seems creepily eager for war with Iran. There’s a reason he’s getting almost half as many donations from active duty military and Pentagon employees.

The consensus of analysis has alway been that foreign policy is Romney’s weakest subject, I see no reason to reassess this simply because Republicans are stupid and easily sold on bigotry and war. The important thing isn’t how things are viewed through the lens of GOP spin making, but how they sell to independents.
