re: #103 Belafon

The odds of dying on Christmas day are the same as dying on any day.

The writer is trying to negate the possibility of that coincidence, I suppose, because it’s just tooo meaningful for Michael to have died on *that* particular day.

TBH, if I were suicidal and looking for a particular day to do myself in, I would NOT choose a major holiday, especially one with so many emotional ties to family and belief. George Michael does not strike me as the kind of fellow who would choose Christmas just to punish his loved ones for, what? The writer does not make it clear.

A more likely explanation is he died, by chance, at Christmastime. My aunt was killed in a car wreck about a week before Christmas in 1977. My mom died two weeks before Christmas of a fatal stroke in ‘94. The Grim Reaper cares not for mortals’ holidays or calendar systems.
