You’d think Italians could remember some of their own immigrant history and how they were treated. I’m old enough to remember when they were looked down on and called the “W” word—even as late as the ’70s, Nixon used the word to describe Judge Sirica who presided over the trial of the Watergate burglars.

I think they do, but, like the Irish, they were eventually considered acceptable (white), and gained preference in hiring etc over blacks.
That’s not to negate hard work, because I know they worked their butts off, but the difference is, they had to be hired in the first place in order to work those butts off, and accumulate generational wealth.
Some don’t accept the premise that being white grants certain advantages…
