Technically it’s not the same. I see what argument the defense is going for; “technically correct is the best kind of correct.” Technically, they’re not wrong; digitally zooming in “adds pixels” to an image. It does this in ways that are difficult to describe to an elderly judge or a jury of 12 laypeople. The defense is relying on this fact to introduce doubt in what would otherwise be a clear video, and the judge is all on board with it.
