When someone does not harbor that kind of prejudice themselves it is very hard to understand that others can internalize that kind of deep hatred towards another simply because of skin color or the shape of their eyes.

When I was a child the schools were still segregated and I saw my share of irrational racial hatred. Still I honestly did think that most of the racist attacks on Obama would go away over time, I was way too optimistic.

Having an African American President is apparently a thorn in their side they simply cannot ignore. They are becoming more and more strident and open about their racism every day. Seems I have underestimated the depths of their pathology.

Obama very much just wants to be president and not a Black president. Of course, yes, for the history books, it’s there, but when you hear him speaking about it - when he’s asked about race - he sort of poo-poos the whole thing. I love these answers from him. He has a job to do and wants to do it. Agree with him, don’t agree with him, but that’s where he’s coming from.

Also, p.s. segregation is very much alive and well TODAY. This I don’t understand. I pass an all black public school on the way home from work each day. Miami public schools are mostly evenly mixed, but I can’t grasp an all black school so many years after Brown v BoE. I guess I’m missing something.
