It never has, because until 45 no president has wanted to challenge the independence of the Federal Reserve from political influence. The Fed chair would have to be grossly incompetent, negligent or corrupt to warrant such an action, and Powell is none of those. The Fed is doing what the Fed does. It’s Trump himself who’s tanking the economy.

A perfect description of Trump himself! Which means that firing is the appropriate action to take.
