Russian Manpower issues:
While Russia and Ukraine don’t publish casualty numbers, Russia’s proxy statelet in Donetsk does. Its military was roughly 20,000 men before the war. With 2,061 officially acknowledged KIA and 8,509 WIA as of June 9, that’s a staggering casualty rate. Luhansk is likely similar. pic.twitter.com/2UDlHflWc0

Rosgvardia’s elite 604th Special Purpose Center’s Vityaz unit is reportedly allowing volunteers to sign up for 3-month contracts to fight in Ukraine. Volunteers will go through a 3-week training plan before deploying. https://t.co/Jvm7ENVOdz pic.twitter.com/VdAjlgtKmk

This is Rosgvardia’s most elite unit. The fact that they’re accepting and deploying volunteers after only three weeks of training demonstrates how serious the manpower issue is. It also shows that many Russian units will have a mix of professionals and reservists/volunteers. 2/
