Typecasting aside, John Ratzenberger- the guy who played Cliff Clavin in Cheers and did a bunch of voices in those Pixar movies- is a pretty interesting guy.

Originally he was supposed to audition for the role of Norm Peterson, and when he was rejected he improvised the Cliff Clavin charachter on the spot, telling the producers that ‘every bar needs a resident know-it-all’.

I’m not sure if it’s out on the Travel Channel still, but he also has a show called Made in America with John Ratzenberger where he goes on various factory tours for those all-to-rare made in the USA products. the episodes featuring Corvette, Ruger, Sam Adams and GE Locomotives are near and dear to my heart…
