An “explosion” changes things. It could be he did purposefully pull into a climb, but lost his engine mid-climb. The description earlier of “full throttle” may be simply of the speed he had coming into the ground rather than engine power. And it’s been reported that he was trying to pull up just before he hit, which would be difficult if not impossible in a straight dive with no engine.

I trust the spectators who claim he had power…you would easily be able to tell the difference….those fuckers roar
