So I see there’s a Dismal River running through the Sandhills. Such an optimistic, uplifting name! I can see why it would be called that though:

[…] Deer, coyotes, beavers, turkey and rattlesnakes inhabit the area along the river.

Actually, that sounds a LOT like parts of Texas (where I’m originally from), heh.
