You know, it’s interesting to think about when it comes to Republican presidents. With the exception of Reagan and Dole, every Republican nominee in my lifetime has been a product of the elite. Now granted H.W Bush while definitely an elite is someone who I think unlike Trump didn’t take anything for granted. Meanwhile pretty much every Democrat exempting Kerry has been from a fairly modest background.

Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, Gerald Ford, Dick Cheney were all of modest background.
