American strategy since WWII is to fight “over there”, i.e., forward deployment.

The Ukrainians are paying a high price to fight Russian nationalism.

We, the US, have reasons to not want Russian nationalism to flourish.

Hence it is in our best interest to support the Ukrainians.

This is not hard for anyone who has a shred of historical knowledge, but in the land of the know-nothings knowledge about the past is rare.
