Not really. Not all SoCons want to force their positions on others, and its entirely possible to be socially conservative and not be a racist. Moreover, the kind of gender apartheid practiced in Pakistan is far beyond anything US fundies demand. No, the Salafists are worse that US Socons, much worse.

As for the rest it’s only because the Salafists mostly fill the positions of power and influence there. And they’ve managed to successfully suppress the kind of movements for such rights as well.
