What Trump did was prove that if you narrow the target of your bullying to a certain set of people, then you can not only get away with it, you can be praised for “telling it like it is.”

And that set is narrow, though not as narrow as we’d like. As a percentage of eligible voters, he drew fewer than the famous Crazification Factor. Our failure was not bringing enough of the sane majority out of their coma, especially in critical states. Four years of GOP triumphalism will either fix that, or make the fix exceedingly difficult.
