Yes, they can afford to, but they don’t want to and don’t think they have to.

Just like the same bosses who didn’t want to give people family and medical leave, or overtime pay or anything else.

As we’re seeing now, the actual NFL refs are much better at their jobs than the refs that were supposed to take their place. That should be rewarded. If that means actually giving them a retirement pension after years of dedicated service, then so be it.
