Close friend in my church. His son went through hell in school. Not from the white students but from other blacks. He was acting white. Studying, getting good grades, not hanging out and running around. It was really though on him. The entire establishment told him he need to identify with his “blackness.” But that that very “blackness” demanded failure as the price of admittance.

He struggled with it, it was a rough few years for his family and friends.

He just finished a tour in Iraq with the USMC. I think he did okay.
