The gun culture is in turmoil right now, with no sign at all that panic buying and hoarding have run their course. Take a look at 9mm handguns on Gun Genie, a popular search site run by a major wholesaler. 215 different models are listed, only a handful are available. Even ammunition in this caliber is very hard to find, though millions of rounds are manufactured every day around the world.
The same is true of military style rifles, the notorious “assault weapons” of liberal myth and lore. This is all fueled by the fear that the Obama administration can, and soon will, either ban the sale of these weapons outright or put a prohibitive tax on them.

Is this paranoia or an excess of caution? There is no doubt at all that this administration is anti-gun, but their rhetoric on the subject has so far exceeded any real action by a pretty good margin. The assault weapons ban is a slam-dunk in liberal minds but even that has yet to be implemented. A general ban on handguns would be orders of magnitude more difficult to pass.
