I know very little about cats, but I would make sure he’s warm and hydrated. He may also just be freaking out about being moved. Back in college, one of my apartment-mates got a cat from the SPCA. He freaked, and stank—the friend who drove them home said her car smelled a scared cat for a week—and then he hid in various weird locations for days, and wouldn’t go near us.

Could he just be having an allergic reaction to NEW PLACE, NEW PEOPLE!!?

Possibly.

He adapted quite fast, he spent a couple of hours inspecting the house and annoying our other cat and then curled up against my wife for a nap.
When he woke up his one eye was sealed shut which apparently annoyed the hell out of him. He rubbed his eye until it would open. I tried to help but he didn’t like that much.
