I pulled my telescope out because why not. And while I’m outside, I see a guy walking down the sidewalk and I asked him if he’s noticed the moon. Then he looks up. It’s wild how people don’t know.

Modern folks don’t look up at the sky much. Thousands of years ago, people would be freaking out about the Moon turning all red or the Sun disappearing. They could tell stories about the patterns of stars in the skies, and how they got there. Nowadays, city dwellers are lucky if they get a glimpse of the brightest stars, and most don’t even know what they’re looking at.
