The Navy (and probably all the military) has seating facing rearward for planes that will be making intentional short stops (arrested landings on a carrier).
I asked a crewmember why civilian planes didn’t do that (common sense safety), and he told me it would freak out the passengers just mentioning the possibility of a crash.
A safer airplane would have all the seats facing backwards and no windows. Windows weaken the fuselage. They studied that way back, people hated the idea of flying backwards with no windows.
