So I was listening to Pod Save America yesterday, and they had Ted Miller, a Republican strategist/campaign type, on. Miller’s definitely a Never Trumper, but he had an interesting point that I hadn’t heard anywhere before about why the GOP establishment isn’t turning on Trump. He said the internal polls showed Ted Cruz lose something like 40% on his approval ratings among Republicans after his “Vote Your Conscious” speech at the GOP convention. That probably explains why so many of them are scared, they’re worried they’ll see a Trumpian primary challenge.

Bingo. Basically, they’re scared shitless of their base.
