Some language trivia:
When the Normans invaded England in 1066, they became the ruling class and French the language of the court. The words for food we use today derive from French: beef, poultry, pork, mutton. However, the conquered still kept the animals, so our animal words are from Anglo-Saxon: cattle, chickens, pig, sheep.
That’s a;so why out “four-letter words” became considered vulgar.
