Player calls coach’s mother a slut, player is excluded, team goes on strike and refuses to practice. All corporate sponsors cancel their contracts. The Minister of Sports (yes, France has one) doesn’t react, makes no comment. Everyone else is shocked, I tell you, shocked. After all, the players are being payed millions of dollars and behaving like spoiled kids.

Oh wait, they’re French, after all. Makes a great subject for existential soul-searching, hours of televised talking heads. Life goes on.
