Anyone seen a very little known film called “Agora” it is a dramatization of the story of Hypatia the “last librarian” of Alexandria. It was also the top grossing film in Spain for 2009.

It covers the rise of the “Christian” zealots who sacked and burned every center of knowledge and library in the old roman empire, (The advent of the “dark ages”). They also dragged Hypatia naked through the streets and then burned her body after finding her guilty of seduction by witchcraft (although most historians agree that hypatia was in fact a virgin). Yeah the film plays fast and loose with history a little bit for dramas sake, but it basically portrays an accurate message.

I wonder if people will look back in history a thousand years from now and make a similar story about the U.S. and the rise of partisan zealotry here?

(watch the film if you can find it, I recommend it highly)
