I had a job to design the label for Reverend Leroy Jenkins’ Holy Hill Cathedral in Delaware Ohio “Miracle Water” 1 gallon jug! I’ll never forget that. Just after college graduation.

Ol’ Leroy was always running into issues with the state of Ohio and City of Delaware for codes violations around the cathedral. Too many loons packed into the service, wiring that was below a drunken do-it-yourselfer, etc.

They finally got him for his “Miracle Water” though. It was found by the EPA to contain too high of concentrations of coliform bacteria and they shut that down which was good portion of his churchifying. He needed that “Miracle Water” to help facilitate the miracle healing.

I did some cartoons for a medical book about therapeutic massage. I didn’t know what that was going in, but the dialog of some of the characters seemed a bit off.

I looked up the author on Google and was horrified by what I saw. Among other things, this woman practiced aligning chakras and ear candling. What was really depressing was that she was (and still possibly is) writing for a major medical publisher.

At this point, I was already committed, so I held my nose and finished the commission. I did turn down another project for this woman a few months later.

Freaking ethics…
