Do you mean the 1992 election? Because that is how long this has been going on.

The GOP has been since ‘92, yeah, but it really didn’t seem to gain purchase on the left-wing side of things like it has until well after the slime machine went out for blood for good, and seemed to especially come to a head at the election.
