Disney… cautiously optimistic.
JJ Abrams can direct well, it’s just that he’s normally directing very badly written incoherent messes that he has to do his best with. SW 7-9 will be made or broken by whoever is writing them.
Abrams tends to work best when he has a blank canvas to paint on. When he’s got somebody else’s work in front of him, he’s almost mystically compelled to slap it with white paint and then start over again. He can’t pull the “time travel reset button” on Star Wars that he could on Star Trek.
