There are - plumber, electrician, etc. Things break, and you need someone skilled enough to fix them. And you can’t exactly outsource home repair to India and China. Illegals can’t do jobs that need to be signed off by a licensed person, at least not without the licensed person getting in trouble.

What the average joe used to do themselves is now farmed out, with a condescending sniff of one’s nose. Being a handy-man for the self-appointed elitist is a lucrative field.
